In an exclusive interview with ANTHONY NLEBEM, Falconets and Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper Omini Oyono talks about how she started her football career, the U-20 Women's World Cup, the Istanbul airport exam and more. discussions.Welcome to the U20 Women's World Cup.

How would you describe your experience?

This is a dream come true for me. With all the training I did as a kid, my goal was always to play in the World Cup and it's nice to have that experience now. He conceded 3 goals in 4 matches at the World Cup in Costa Rica. Is this an achievement you are proud of? To be honest, I am not proud of my success in Costa Rica. I think I should have done better. Especially the mistake we made against Canada. It hurts so bad. What was it like to keep two headscissors free in a tournament?

That was my goal when I entered the tournament and I wanted to reach the final, but unfortunately I couldn't. I feel very stupid.

Like sleeping on the floor of a Turkish airport after missing a flight.

How was the experience?

It was not a good experience and it was a shame to sleep on the airport floor, but I had to accept. To shower at the airport you will have to pay $18 and we have found that some players cannot afford to shower. Are you impressed? From the moment I left Costa Rica and went through Colombia to Turkey, it was not easy. I had to pay 18 dollars to take a bath. To be honest, I haven't bathed and most of us haven't showered in 3 days. We didn't shower for days because neither of us could afford to pay $18 for a shower. However, some officials, such as the back staff, who can afford $18, took a bath.

Is it true that girls wash their own sets in Costa Rica?

No, we didn't wash the set ourselves. We wouldn't take our kits to the laundry until after practice and they would come pick them up, wash them and return our kits. What is your next step as a footballer after the U20 Women's Cup?

My dream is to play outside Nigeria and show the world my talent, but to be a good goalkeeper, I need to improve my shortcomings first. Some of the teammates were called up to the Super Falcons for their recent friendly against the USWNT. How quickly do you think you can break into a senior team with experienced goalkeepers like Chiamaka Nnadozie and Tochukwu Oluehi? I am very happy that they were invited to Super Falcons. they deserved I expected it because they did well in the World Cup in Costa Rica. My prayer is that we become a great team. I think it's a matter of time and grace for me and I think if others can come through the senior team I can too. Women's football is growing fast in Nigeria. You can now win away matches instead of just the usual home wins. Teams can get road wins that have been very difficult in the past. The competition is fierce and there are talented players. If you are not strong enough, you cannot play in the Nigerian League because everyone wants to play.

when did you start playing football

I started out as a high school player, just high school football, and I wasn't serious at the time. I had an appendectomy when I was in Delta State and my mother told me I could go to my hometown Cross River and make a full recovery. I went to Calabar and that's how it started. A friend invited me to the stadium and introduced me to the coach of the Pelican Feeders. That's how I started playing football. He moved from Calabar to Lagos with the local queens to spend a season with the team. Then I joined Abia Angels. He later moved to Kogi and played for Confluence Queens before joining Bayelsa Queens.
