Cristiano Ronaldo announces retirement, vows "adventure is not done"

Cristiano Ronaldo, a superstar player for Manchester United, has addressed rumors that have been circulating regarding his possible retirement date and has sworn to keep playing at the highest level of football.

Cristiano Ronaldo has discussed retirement plans.

The voyage of Cristiano Ronaldo's playing career "is not done yet," according to the player, who has stated that he intends to keep playing at the highest level until at least the year 2024.

After being named the leading scorer in international competition for the last year, the Portuguese superstar gave a speech at the Quinas de Ouro in his home country after receiving the honor. Ronaldo, now 37 years old, is no longer a starter for Manchester United but continues to be an important figure for Portugal in international competition.

A year ago, Ronaldo surpassed Pele as the all-time leader in goals scored in international football, and he has since gone on to record 117 goals for Portugal in 189 total appearances for the national team. He hopes to have at least one more major international competition left in his career after leading his country to victory at this year's World Cup finals, which they will be captaining.

This is his tenth major finals competition, having made his debut as a star for Portugal in the 2004 European Championship. He was also instrumental in his team's triumph at the 2016 European Championship, which was the first time Portugal had ever won a major international trophy, as well as their victory in the inaugural Nations League competition in 2019.

Now, he has his sights set on winning the World Cup for the very first time, despite the fact that Portugal is considered one of the underdogs in the competition despite possessing a deep pool of talent that includes players such as Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Felix, Diogo Jota, and Rafael Leao.

Ronaldo expressed his gratitude for the award by saying, "I hope to continue being a part of the Portuguese international setup for a few more years. I feel motivated, and my ambition is high. I am in a team with young people, and I want to be in the World Cup but also in the next European Championships." Ronaldo received the award on Tuesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored against FC Sheriff in a rare start

The striker has only started one game for United in the Premier League so far, and he has been benched for all of the team's games during their current four-game winning streak in the league. United's four-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the Premier League. He started both of the Europa League matches against Real Sociedad and FC Sheriff, scoring a penalty kick goal against the latter opponent. He also started both of the Europa League matches against Real Sociedad.

Ronaldo said the following upon receiving his award: "I am proud to receive an award of such magnitude. I never thought I could achieve it. It has been a long road but I would like to say that my journey is not over yet. There is still a little more of Cristiano left." This was said in the context of questions being raised about Ronaldo's ability to remain at Old Trafford for the long term.

Ronaldo has scored 699 goals in club football and a total of 816 goals across his senior career. He is still determined to add to the 31 major honors he has won throughout the course of his distinguished career.
