Benjamin Sesko's RB Salzburg teammate might be the attacker United wants

It appears that Manchester United were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Sesko during this transfer window, which may have been for the best.

Manchester United wants Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko.

It is safe to say that Manchester United's pursuit of Benjamin Sesko during the summer transfer window was anything but stealthy.

Erik ten Hag has not been coy about the fact that United would like to improve their offensive options for the upcoming season. There have been six new players brought in by the Dutchman, but only Christian Eriksen and Antony are likely to have a direct impact on goal contributions on a consistent basis during the course of the season.

There is also the constant problem that always exists of what will happen with Cristiano Ronaldo in the future. Since the disheartening 4-0 loss to Brentford, the 37-year-old player has not started a Premier League match for Ten Hag. The five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or had planned to leave Old Trafford in search of a club that would play in the Champions League, but those plans were not successful.

Marcus Rashford is expected to play primarily in the center of the field for United, with Jadon Sancho and Antony operating on either wing. However, United will continue to look to acquire a new striker in the near future. As a result of Anthony Martial's slow start to the season due to injury, many fans are curious about how manager Erik ten Hag will incorporate the Frenchman into the team's lineup on a consistent basis. Ronaldo has served as the primary attacking option when Martial has been sidelined this season.

During the summer transfer window, there were numerous reports indicating that Sesko would be moving to United. Despite these reports, the 19-year-old eventually decided to sign with Red Bull Leipzig instead. The Reds exerted a great deal of pressure on the club to complete the transfer, and in an effort to do so, football director John Murtough met with Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, in an effort to mediate the transaction.

The Slovenian forward made 37 total appearances for Red Bull Salzburg in the 2017–2018 season, scoring 11 goals across all competitions. During the preseason, Sesko scored against Liverpool, a goal that was well received by the United faithful and received a standing ovation.

Fans of Manchester United might also want to keep an eye on Sesko's teammate Noah Okafor, who is currently playing for Salzburg. Okafor is on the same squad as Sesko.

The Swiss international, who is 22 years old, is capable of playing any position along the front line, but his strengths lie in the roles of central striker and attacking midfielder respectively. Okafor is a versatile player who has a natural tendency to cut in from the left side of the field and score goals with his dominant right foot, which may pique the interest of Ten Hag, who may be particularly interested in Okafor.

The Salzburg forward is known for his blistering speed, in addition to his excellent vision and ability to dribble. It would appear that his play style is naturally suited to the Premier League given his success in beating his man and challenging defenders in one-on-one situations. Given these accomplishments, his play style is naturally suited to the Premier League.

Because Okafor is only six feet tall, he does not cut the most commanding figure, which could be a problem for him when it comes to the physical demands of taking the lead position in the line. On the other hand, if his performance in the Champions League so far this year is any indication, he should be fine.

Okafor is one of only three players who have scored in every Champions League game that they have played in this season. He has scored in every game that they have played in. On Wednesday night, his team won the match against Dinamo Zagreb thanks to the penalty kick that he took for Salzburg in the 71st minute. This season, he has scored eight goals in a total of fourteen games across all competitions, and he has also assisted on two goals during that span.

United may not have been able to secure the marquee signing of Sesko, but there is a good chance that another Salzburg striker who is flying under the radar will prove to be the solution to Ten Hag's striking dilemma and provide the goals he is looking for.
