In his interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo criticized young players.
This week, only a select few have been able to avoid Cristiano Ronaldo's scorched-earth strategy unscathed.
Every new tidbit that is gradually published from Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan puts Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville, Erik ten Hag, Ralf Rangnick, and the Glazers in the line of fire, and each of these individuals has caught a bullet as a result. We are grateful that the tease was finally put to an end on Wednesday evening when the first half of the interview that lasted for 90 minutes was made public.
Although there was more criticism for Manchester United's lack of progress and two of the three managers who have overseen his return to Old Trafford, it appears that the more explosive elements of the interview have been held back for the airing of part two on Thursday. Part two of the interview will be available on ESPN+. There is one peculiar and understated target of Ronaldo's ire while we wait with bated breath for the sound of additional pipe bombs exploding. Ronaldo's ire is directed toward the media.
After giving praise to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the topic of the talk shifted to the young players of today. At that moment, Ronaldo put on his slippers, put on his dressing gown, and suddenly appeared to be approximately half his age.
The elderly guy yelled at the cloud that "all leagues in the globe, the youngest now, they are not the same as my generation." "But we can't hold that against them because, well, you know, that's just how life is. Because of the new generation and the new technologies, which divert their attention to something else,... On the other hand, they are not the same. They hear what you say, but the reason we have two ears is so that we may hear what you say with one ear while they hear what you say with the other.
"It doesn't surprise me. But on the other hand, it is a shame because if they have the best examples in front of their eyes, and if they don't at least copy what you did, it is kind of weird for me, because I remember when I was 18, 19, and 20 years old, I always looked to see the best players in Van Nistelrooy, Ferdinand, Roy Keane, and Giggs - this is why I have the success that I have and longevity that I have. Because I see these individuals and get wisdom from them, I make it a priority to take care of my body, my state of mind, and my head.
His issues in this regard could not be more laughable, and they would not be out of place on the Facebook page for your neighborhood or community. It's a worn old stereotype, but Ronaldo has succumbed to it: every age appears to assume that the generation that follows them won't be as good, and Ronaldo is one of those people.
The fact that so many of United's younger players and younger players in general plainly look up to the No. 7 player is something that is even more shocking. Many of them have, including Under-18 superstar Manni Norkett and Alejandro Garnacho just this past weekend, and they have done so in an attempt to mimic Ronaldo's famous celebrations. The Argentine prodigy in particular appears to be over over heels in love with his iconic teammate, who is never far from his side whether they are warming up, practicing, or celebrating a goal.
"I have spent the past 18 years and 125 days anticipating this moment. Thank you very much, Idol and Cristiano! "After scoring his first goal for the club against Real Sociedad, Garnacho shared his excitement on Twitter. After he scored a hat-trick for Portugal, an additional promising prospect named Charlie McNeill referred to him as "a joke" on Instagram, using the positive connotation of the term. He accompanied this comment with a goat emoji.
It is very evident that the players in United's academy admire Ronaldo, and it is difficult to imagine that they would ignore him should he provide free counsel. However, in a few moments later, the Portuguese man said something that directly contradicted what he had just said: that he dislikes giving advice.
"I'm not the kind of guy who enjoys giving advise since I much rather lead by example," I once stated "he said. Because I serve as an illustration. I get there first thing every morning and carry out the same routine. It's likely that I'll be the first person to arrive and the last person to leave. I believe that the specifics speak for themselves... Because of this, I like to set a good example for others to follow.
If nothing is being spoken to young players, it's hard to blame them if words go in one ear and straight out the other. If nothing is being said to them, though, it's much harder. It is the height of irony for Ronaldo to talk about setting an example while he is sitting in an interview where he is criticizing his management and all of the wonderful work that he has been doing.
After the typical techniques of doing so, such as finding a club that wants to sign you, failed so dramatically in the summer, the entire charade has been a transparent attempt to orchestrate an escape as quickly as possible. This comes after the regular tactics failed in the summer. That was after Ronaldo had just finished a season in which he had scored 24 goals; now he is looking for a top-level team that will take him after scoring three goals (two against FC Sheriff, one of those a penalty kick) and demonstrating that he is an absolute terror to deal with.
The vast majority of his jabs, particularly the ones that are directed at younger players, are weak and poorly formed arguments from a man who is fighting against the waning light of his own excellence. His most recent hypocritical act merely emphasizes the rest of his hypocrisy.
