Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was the primary topic of their conversation.

After the meeting, Governor Mbah told reporters that he had asked President Tinubu to consider Kanu's release as part of a larger national reconciliation process, which he claimed the President had already initiated. He expressed optimism that the President would grant the request.

In addition, the governor requested assistance from the federal government in utilizing Enugu State's abundant mineral resources for the benefit of its citizens.
Since his detention, the Department of State Services (DSS) has detained Kanu.
In a related development, Mbah declared that schools, markets, retail stores, hospitals, parking lots, and malls must be open on Mondays or they will be compelled to close.
