Charles, a police inspector and former aide to former Imo State House of Assembly Speaker Chiji Collins, was discovered deceased in a bush in the Oguta Local Government Area.

Charles had been AWOL for several weeks after being kidnapped in the Ohaji/Egbema region of the state along with a driver.

Unknown assailants intercepted the police agents and the driver as they traveled in two separate vehicles.

The lifeless corpse of the driver was discovered soon after the incident, while the search for Charles continued. Tragically, Charles' decomposed body was subsequently discovered in a remote wilderness.

Inspector Charles, who was from the Mbaise region of the state, was brutally murdered by his coworkers, who expressed their profound sorrow.

One source that spoke with Punch lamented, “Charles’ body was found in a bush in the Oguta area. He was killed in such an unfortunate manner. He was given a cut on the neck. This is so disgusting.”

Henry Okoye, the state's police spokesman, confirmed the incident and stated that the state's police commissioner, Muhammed Berde, had dispatched a squad to investigate and bring the murderers to justice.

Okoye guaranteed that the criminals would confront the full force of the law.
