Google Maps is currently updating and will continue to update several key features to make navigating unfamiliar areas and trip planning simpler.
If you have impending travel plans or expect to be in a location you don't normally visit, Google is updating three of its Maps features to accommodate you. Whether you're planning an itinerary in Recents, navigating with Immersive View, or seeking directions at a glance, you're covered.

The Recents feature in the desktop version of Maps, which was designed to aid in travel planning, is receiving a number of updates to ensure that it performs as intended. Once the updates are live, Maps will retain the highlighted locations even if you close the window, so you won't have to locate them again later. Additionally, you'll have more control over removing locations from your list, sharing the list with a friend, and obtaining directions to up to three locations you can save for later.
Immersive View is also growing by adding Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, and Venice. This expansion also increases the total number of landmarks in Immersive View to over 500.

A brand-new opt-in feature is also forthcoming. The purpose of glanceable directions is to combine the navigation mode's typical level of detail with automatic updates and GPS tracking. According to Google, the result will provide current ETAs, warnings of impending turns, and updated routes if you choose a different route.
