FCT, Abuja - Monday, June 19, at the court of appeal in Abuja, the presidential election petition tribunal denied the request of President Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to dismiss the petition lodged by the Allied People's Movement (APM). According to Daily Trust, the APM is contesting the election victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima of the APC on February 25.

The APM is one of the political organizations contesting the results of the presidential election held on February 25. On Monday, June 19, a five-member panel presided by Justice Haruna Tsammani determined that granting Tinubu's request and dismissing the APM's petition would violate the principle of equitable hearing against the party. PM News reported that APM and its presidential candidate Chichi Ojei filed the petition on the sole issue of Tinubu's ineligibility to compete in the 2023 election due to the alleged double nomination of his running mate Shettima. However, Tinubu's primary attorney, Wole Olanipekun, a senior advocate of Nigeria, cited the Supreme Court's May 26 dismissal of a related suit by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for lack of standing.
