Despite being one of hip-hop's biggest artists for more than ten years, J. Cole hasn't lost sight of what it's like to be impoverished.

Rapper from North Carolina, Kevin Hart, recently discussed being frugal with his spending in an interview for his Peacock programme Hart to Heart. Hart attributed this to his "fear" of going broke once more.

"I don't think I run the best business, so I can't really sit here like some mogul and give business advice," he remarked. "I'm thankful to be surrounded by wonderful people who think well of me financially. I simply use money wisely because I'm afraid. I spend slowly because I never, ever want to be impoverished again.

He then on, "I would say without a doubt that I'm mindful because I will spend if it's a family vacation and it's the right thing to do." Spending is not a fear for me, but I am mindful—I believe that's the right phrase.

The person who started Dreamville talked about money in a 2013 interview. He said he wanted to be rich because he wanted to feel safe and comfortable and to be able to help people.

"I want to make a lot of money so I can feel secure," he said. "I don't crave money and I don't even like money. " I am friends with these people who are also rappers. They really like money and are always trying to get more. And that's great as well - that's what makes some of the most successful businessmen.

"I don't really like money that much. " I love feeling safe and comfortable and being able to help my family if they need it. "That's what I love about money. "

"But to be honest, what makes me the happiest is the music," he said. Making music I am in the recording studio. My album is coming out and the response is fantastic, which makes me very happy. I wrote a song called "Let Nas Down" for my album.

"When I created that song, the way it made me feel afterwards is more important to me than making money".

"Dreamville has always been a small family-run business with big dreams and ideas that go way beyond just music," Cole said at the time. "We are happy to welcome Damien and Candace to our family business. They are very smart and capable executives. Their hiring will help us to turn our big ideas into reality. "
