Bruno Fernandes' Diogo Jota message links Manchester United and Liverpool.

Portugal is one win away from securing their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, thanks to the efforts of Bruno Fernandes and his teammates.

In a message to Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes has bridged the tremendous rivalry that exists between Manchester United and Liverpool. The message comes after Portugal advanced one step closer to the World Cup on Thursday night. Jota scored a goal for his side during a crucial 3-1 victory over Turkey on Sunday.

Among the goals were Otavio and Matheus Nunes, who came on as a substitute. The victory over Italy earned Portugal a meeting with North Macedonia, who had won the Euro 2020 tournament. The victor of that play-off matchup will be invited to compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Dario Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo were also selected for the Portugal squad, joining Fernandes' Manchester United teammate. Of course, Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, captained the team, but it was Jota who stole the show.

In the build-up to Otavio's early opener, Liverpool striker Jota struck the crossbar before heading home the second late in the first half to secure a 2-0 victory. Turkey captain Burak Yilmaz went from hero to villain in the blink of an eye, throwing a lifeline to his team before missing a penalty awarded by the video assistant referee.

Following the late-night controversy, Jota took to Instagram to address his followers. The following is what a message that had been translated said: "Let's get this @Portugal team going! We are counting on your support for the big showdown. In the direction of Qatar."

Fernandes responded, "This head is impenetrable." After earning his 41st international cap against Portugal on Thursday night, the Manchester United wonder was substituted for the final ten minutes of the match as the hosts hung on for win.
