Bobby Dazzler Super Cleaner & Your COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Hygiene Plan

Bobby Dazzler is a concentrated cleaner that is both economical and effective. For your COVID Hygiene Action Plan we recommend a dilution rate of 4:1 in a spray and wipe bottle or 16:1 for other cleaning when using Bobby Dazzler.

You may be using XO2's Bobby Dazzler Super Cleaner as part of your facilities COVID-19 Hygiene Plan. And it's a great product to use!

Bobby Dazzler is a concentrated cleaner that is both economical and effective. For your COVID Hygiene Action Plan we recommend a dilution rate of 4:1 in a spray and wipe bottle or 16:1 for other cleaning when using Bobby Dazzler.

These dilution rates, in our opinion, give you a stronger 'ready to use solution' than you need because we believe it's better to be safe than sorry.

Here's how we worked out our minimum effective dilution rate for the use of Bobby Dazzler in your COVID-19 hygiene action plan.

This will get a little technical with some maths relating to dilution rates and parts per million of disinfecting compounds.

As a starting reference point for the use of disinfectant and sanitisers in a COVID-19 hygiene program we refer to the Singapore NEA. They are a leading authority for public health matters and you can learn more about them here.

They have brilliant information about ingredients for disinfection relating to COVID-19, here's a link...

https://www.nea.gov.sg/our-services/public-cleanliness/environmental-cleaning-guidelines/guidelines/interim-list-of-household-products-and-active-ingredients-for-disinfection-of-covid-19

The primary sanitising ingredient in Bobby Dazzler is a quaternary ammonium compound called Benzalkonium Chloride. This is a very common ingredient in disinfectants for cleaning and hygiene.

According to this recommendation, Benzalkonium Chloride is needed at a strength 0.05% (or 500 parts per million) in the ready to use solution to be effective against coronavirus.

Bobby Dazzler in it's concentrated form contains 1.65% (16,500 parts per million) Benzalkonium Chloride. When you know this amount you can see if the claims a product is making is accurate or not.

To work out parts per million (ppm) we use this formula:

(Sum of % Actives) ÷ (dilution parts) x 10,000 = _____ ppm Benzalkonium Chloride (Quaternary Ammonium Compound)

So for Bobby Dazzler with a dilution of 16:1 the formula looks like this...

(1.65 ÷ (16+1)) x 10,000 = 970 ppm Benzalkonium Chloride (Quaternary Ammonium Compound)

And as a percentage, it's 0.097 which is almost double the 0.05% concentration recommended by the NEA.

It's a bit to work out, but hey, it's easier than temporal displacement in the space time continuum.

Here's a quick reference guide for Bobby Dazzler so you don't have to do the maths.

Use the dilution rate you need to get the level of Benzalkonium Chloride (Quaternary Ammonium Compound) in

Dilution Rate

Undiluted - 1.65% (16,500ppm)

1:1 (50/50) - 0.825% (8250ppm)

3:1 - 0.412% (4125ppm)

4:1 - 0.33% (3300ppm)

9:1 - 0.165% (1650ppm)

16:1 - 0.097% (970ppm)

20:1 - 0.078% (785ppm)

Remember the basic principles of surface disinfection should apply to your cleaning methodology. Your ready to use disinfection solution will always disinfect better on a pre-cleaned surface. And always give the solution time to work (dwell time) on the surface before wiping or rinsing away.
