Raphael Varane won't travel with United to Cyprus.
Raphael Varane will not be available for Manchester United's match against Omonia Nicosia in the group stage of the Europa League because the center back did not recover in time from an ankle injury.
The injury was sustained by Varane during United's match against Manchester City on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium, and he was unable to train at Carrington on Wednesday morning due to the fact that the team was scheduled to depart for Cyprus later in the day.
He is currently in the same position as Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Donny van de Beek, and the four players will not be participating in the European matchup.
Ten Hag is confident that Varane will be back in action relatively quickly, confirming the MEN's exclusive, but he will have to wait a little longer for Maguire as he fights through a hamstring injury. Maguire has been out for a while.
The Dutchman was unable to provide any specific information regarding when Wan-Bissaka or Van de Beek would be coming back. Neither player has participated in a game for United since their victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford on August 22.
In reference to the quartet, Ten Hag stated that "They are not available for tomorrow."
"Yes [I expect him back soon] in the case of Rapha, we hope; Harry will take a little bit longer; however, with regard to the other two, I am unable to provide a prognosis."
