Cristiano Ronaldo's 700th goal hasn't impacted Erik ten Hag's plan for "the sub."

On Sunday night, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season for Manchester United and the 700th goal of his storied club career after coming off the bench to do so. The match was played against Everton.

After scoring his 700th goal for his club, Cristiano Ronaldo is being hailed as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. However, Erik ten Hag still ranks Ronaldo as only his third-best striker despite this accolade.

Ronaldo will have to settle for a supporting role under Ten Hag's tutelage at Manchester United, rather than the lead role that he so desperately wants at the club. Despite the fact that he is considered to be a legend of the sport, Ten Hag ranks him lower than Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the order of No. 9 players.

Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, has only started one game in the Premier League so far this season, and that was after he was involved in a car accident at Brentford. He only came off the bench against Everton because Antony Martial suffered a back injury. As a result of Martial's injury, Ronaldo could see an increase in playing time, but this will only be a temporary benefit.

The statistics bear this out. Ten Hag's view of Ronaldo and his landmark strike in the 2-1 win at Goodison Park was only his second in 12 appearances this season. Ten Hag's view of Ronaldo and his landmark strike was captured by Ten Hag. In contrast, Rashford already has five goals on the season, while Martial has three despite playing in only four games so far.

There is a possibility that Ten Hag and Ronaldo are engaging in a power play with one another, and United manager Jose Mourinho did not lavish much praise on the Herculean accomplishment of Portugal's star player. In the beginning, he mentioned it by saying that it was exciting "to see the substitute come on and score a goal." Not legendary or remarkable, but simply "the sub."

When pressed, Ten Hag did offer his congratulations to Ronaldo, but rival manager Frank Lampard offered a more glowing tribute to the Reds legend, praising him as "one of the greatest players who has graced the game."

Teammates of Ronaldo's surrounded him to congratulate him, and Ronaldo's countryman Bruno Fernandes made a joke about how difficult it is to keep up with all of the records he is breaking.

Erik ten Hag looks on as "the sub" Cristiano Ronaldo prepares to come on vs Everton

The captain of the United team commented that "every week it seems like a new record." "For a short period of time, he was scoreless; however, today he scored, and it helped us win. That is the one thing that Cristiano prioritizes above all else.

Also in awe of Ronaldo's goal-scoring prowess is Victor Lindelof, who was quoted as saying, "I'm very happy for him." It seems to me that his results speak for themselves. It is truly remarkable how well he has performed and how many goals he has scored considering how young he is; he is a fantastic football player.

Even though Ronaldo has scored his 700th club goal, Ten Hag does not consider himself to be a member of this Ronaldo fan club, and it is obvious that his status in his eyes will not change just because he has reached this milestone. He will continue to serve as an impact player off the bench for the Dutch manager, as well as someone to use on Thursday nights in the Europa League when he wants to give Rashford a rest.

After Ronaldo made Ten Hag's summer so difficult by attempting to force his way out of Old Trafford, it almost seems as though this is Ten Hag's way of exacting revenge on Ronaldo.

It is ironic that one of the reasons Ronaldo wanted to leave was because he wanted to play in the Champions League rather than the Europa League, given that the latter could end up being his main source of income for the current campaign.
