Gabriel Martinelli has been incredible so far this season, which has helped Arsenal keep up their early challenge for the Premier League title.

The Brazilian forward has contributed to four goals and two assists for the Gunners so far this season. He was instrumental in the Gunners' 3-2 victory over Jurgen Klopp's team at the Emirates Stadium. It now appears that he is reaching the enormous potential that was predicted of him, and if he maintains his scintillating form, there is no reason why Martinelli couldn't be taking home a lot of accolades by the time the season is over.

Martinelli could have been playing for Manchester United instead of the Gunners, which is sure to make Gunners supporters overjoyed. Martinelli is only 21 years old and has already established himself as a talented player in North London.

The Brazilian player disclosed earlier this year that he had multiple trials with the Red Devils due to a "agreement" with his previous club Ituano. During these trials, he was able to gain experience playing alongside United legends such as Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra.

According to a quote that appeared in The Athletic, he stated: "My dad and I used to watch the Premier League together. We would watch all of the games, including those involving teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Leicester. At the ages of 13, 14, 15, and 16, I participated in a total of four different United auditions. 

"This took place in Manchester at the club's training base, where I played in the same age group as Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams and where I met first-team players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney, and Patrice Evra.

Despite all of those conversations, the Red Devils never gave Martinelli the chance to officially join their team as a player.The Brazilian disclosed that despite this, there was never a time when the other party expressed interest in having him present. "However, because I had played football in England, it not only gave me a taste for the game but also made the transition a little bit simpler for me."

"Even after going through those difficult times, I never stopped believing in myself. The thought that "I can do it" is constantly going through my head.

In the end, Martinelli made the move to England, where he will play for Arsenal in 2019, after the club made a bid for his services. When the Gunners made it known that they were interested in the Brazilian, there was no question in the Brazilian's mind about where his future lay.

My agent advised that we need to make a choice right away. I responded to him by saying, "OK, you do not need to say anything else, we are going to London," which is what he said he heard me say after he mentioned Arsenal.

That turned out to be the best decision, as Martinelli is getting close to making his 100th appearance for Arsenal and is currently in discussions to extend his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
