Fewer ATMs Installed in 2022
According to the information that was compiled by Crypto Presales, the number of crypto and bitcoin automated teller machines (ATMs) that were installed in the first eleven months of 2022 was approximately 6,100. This number is almost three times less than what was installed in the same time period in the previous year. The significant growth in the number of new installations that was witnessed in 2021 stands in stark contrast to the apparent slowing that has taken place in the number of ATMs that are being placed in new locations.

According to the findings of the Crypto Presales research, the year 2021 saw the installation of a record-breaking number of cryptocurrency and bitcoin ATMs totaling around 20,300 brand-new machines. The overall number of automated teller machines reached 32,600 after setting a new annual record for the number of new installations during that year.

In contrast, the year 2022, which was marked by bears and the collapse of Terra LUNA and UST (and, more recently, the collapse of FTX), was the first year in which the number of ATMs that were installed decreased. This is what the report had to say:

By the middle of 2022, there were around 37,800 cryptocurrency ATMs spread across the globe. The number continued to climb and reached more than 38,800 in the month of August. The overall number of BTMs, however, fell to 38,400 in September, marking the first month in which the number of these machines experienced a monthly decline.

In spite of this, the research showed that the number of ATMs that have been installed has increased since then, and it is estimated that there will be 39,000 of them operational by the middle of November 2022.

In the meantime, information compiled by Crypto Presales reveals that the United States will be responsible for approximately 90 percent of all cryptocurrency and bitcoin ATMs that are installed in 2022. According to the available information, Canada's 2,688 automated teller machines place it in the number two spot on the list of the top ten countries that have the most crypto-dispensing machines. The remaining nine nations on this list each have fewer than three hundred ATMs in operation.

Bitaccess is the largest cryptocurrency ATM manufacturer in the world, holding a 33 percent share of the market as of November and having produced over 12,000 machines. General Bytes came in at position two with a market share of 23% and approximately 9,000 BTMs. Genesis Coin and Bitstop come in second and third place, respectively, with a market share of 22% and 5%.

According to the report, which is based on data from Coin ATM Radar, 82% of all the machines that have been installed support alternative cryptocurrencies. There are approximately 39% of ATMs that support dogecoin, compared to 73% that support ethereum and approximately 80% that support litecoin.
