Become a candidate <br>Becoming a candidate in one or more of International Experience Canada's (IEC) pools is the first thing you need to do if you want to have the opportunity to travel and work briefly in Canada as part of the International Experience Canada (IEC) program.

If you wish to begin working in Canada within the next year, you need to start the application process as soon as possible so that you may be considered a candidate.

In this step of the procedure, you will:

Answering certain questions will help us determine whether or not you fulfill the basic requirements for eligibility.
If you are qualified, you may make a free online IEC profile here.
The information that you provide here will be evaluated in order to establish whether or not you are qualified to participate in a pool for any of the following IEC categories:

Young Professionals Participating in an International Co-op or Internship and Working Holiday
There is only one applicant pool available per nation and one pool available per category.

You have the option of submitting your information to any number of these pools. Participants in the pools are required to wait to be invited to submit an application for a work visa.

A helpful hint: While you are finishing up your profile, you might find it convenient to open this page in an other browser, tab, or window. You will then be able to go back to this information whenever it is required.

First, provide responses to a few questions.
Use our quiz to see whether or not you satisfy the requirements to join the IEC pools. It should take you approximately ten minutes to complete. It will ask you questions regarding your:

place of birth or citizenship
nation in which one resides permanently (where you live permanently)
nation in which one resides (where you live now)
student status (if this applies to you)
career opportunity (if this applies to you)
Please take into consideration that your country of permanent residence is the nation in which you have a fixed address. If you were born in Mexico but are now studying in Canada, for instance, your country of permanent residence would be Mexico.

You have the choice between the following two responses to the questionnaire:

After logging in to your account, go to the "International Experience Canada" menu item.
Find out if you're qualified even if you haven't signed up.
Find out if you are qualified even if you are not signed in to your account if you are unsure about your eligibility or if you do not currently have an account.

The second step is to finish filling up your online IEC profile.
If you obtain a favorable result, you may complete and submit your IEC profile online.

In the event that you checked your eligibility without first logging in, please proceed as follows:

At the conclusion of the questionnaire, we will provide you with a personal reference code. Please make a copy of it or write it down (It looks like this: JM1234567890).
Make sure you have an account.
When prompted, please provide your personal reference code.
Click "Continue" if you have already checked your account by signing in to see whether you are eligible. A personal reference code will not be provided to you. You do not require one in any way.

Your profile will be started based on the information you provided in the questionnaire. To complete your profile, you'll need your passport. You'll also need to provide information on your:

In the event that your passport requires the use of other unusual letters or characters, the letter should be used without the accent. For instance, "z" should be used rather than "."

You are free to leave the profile at any moment that you choose. The information that you provide will be kept.

Step 3: Give us your profile information.
After you have finished filling up your profile, we will inform you of the many pools that are open to you. You are free to submit your profile to any of these open pools of candidates.

It is imperative that you understand that submitting a profile to the IEC does not indicate that you have filed for a work visa. In order to begin the application process for a work visa, you are required to have an invitation to apply.

In the event that you are extended an invitation to apply, you will make use of your account to:
