This occurs less than two weeks after the dissolution of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet.
Mohammed's new position was verified in a statement posted to Ballard Partner's Twitter account on Tuesday.
It read: "Ballard Partners, one of the leading government relations firms in the United States, is establishing its first office in Africa in Abuja, Nigeria, the capital of the nation.
"Lai Mohammed, the former minister of information and culture of Nigeria, will serve as managing partner of the firm's Abuja office and its satellite office in Lagos, the nation's financial capital."

The president of the company stated that Mohammed was appointed because he is "one of the most esteemed officials in the country."
