Bayern Munich's 24-year-old midfielder is wanted by both Manchester United and Spurs.

In the upcoming summer transfer window, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both appear eager to add a new midfielder to their squad.

As reported by ESPN, both Premier League clubs may look to the Bundesliga for a new center midfielder, according to a recent report from German publication BILD (paywall).
RB Leipzig's Konrad Laimer may be an interesting alternative.

Furthermore, the midfielder's contract expires at the end of the upcoming season, which means he'll be available for a lower price than other players in the Bundesliga.

Consequently, his employers may be forced to make a difficult decision if his contract is not extended before the start of the summer transfer season.

Tottenham Hotspur are a serious threat to Ralf Rangnick's position.
Ralf Rangnick, the interim manager of Manchester United, has previously managed RB Leipzig, therefore it comes as no surprise to see his name mentioned in these latest rumours.

The German strategist not only has a history with the Red Bull Arena, but he also has a close working relationship with Laimer, having managed him for a year in 2018.

The 24-year-old midfielder had a major impact this season, playing 43 games in all competitions for the club.

However, despite the fact that Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard appear to be certain departures for Laimer this summer, Rangnick's relationship may not be enough to persuade the Austrian international to switch sides.

The Lilywhites have also been credited with a considerable interest, and while in years past the Red Devils would have been considered the more attractive alternative, recent times portray a very different image.

United are battling to maintain consistency, they are lagging behind Tottenham Hotspur in almost every aspect of the game, and they are long shots to qualify for next season's Champions League. Playing for Manchester United doesn't provide much in terms of benefits to players, other from the possibility of earning a hefty salary — at least not at the moment.
