Paul Scholes compares Manchester United's leadership problems to Liverpool's.

Liverpool humiliated Manchester United in a one-sided Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday.

When asked about the leadership qualities of Manchester United, Paul Scholes declared them to be lost and devoid of any new ideas. On Tuesday night, Manchester United were humiliated once more by their arch-rivals Liverpool, who delivered another hefty and humiliating defeat to the Reds.

The title-chasing Liverpool side blew aside Manchester United with a clinical performance at Old Trafford, where they had previously triumphed 5-0. United's hopes of making the Champions League playoffs were dashed after Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah (twice), and Sadio Mane scored in the second half.

United were missing six senior players for the Premier League match, including Cristiano Ronaldo, and they were also without Paul Pogba, who suffered an early injury in the warm-up. Scholes, on the other hand, believes that even when the players are fully healthy and blazing, United simply lacks any leaders in the dressing room.

Scholes said in an interview with Premier League Films: "Manchester United didn't touch any of their players during the game. They were free to do as they pleased. I find myself unable to take the motivation of Liverpool's players after a performance like this.

"Every Manchester United player should be ready to go for every game. Their demeanor was sluggish, sluggish, and lacking in enthusiasm. Speaking about leaders, United's roster is devoid of any.

"Fabinho, Henderson, Van Dijk and Matip are just a few of the leaders on the Reds' roster. This is a group of men you can trust. In plenty, Liverpool have that type of character and leadership."
