Anthony Elanga can assist Manchester United in increasing their transfer budget this summer.

Despite the fact that Manchester United have had a disastrous season, the emergence of academy graduate Anthony Elanga has been one of the few bright spots.

Manchester United's memorable moments have been few and far between in 2022, with the club picking up just seven victories from 20 games that were largely underwhelming.

For United fans in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick against Tottenham may be the highlight, but Anthony Elanga's late equalizer against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano may top it.

Elanga's coolness and finishing prowess allowed United to depart Madrid with the tie so delicately poised despite the fact that it ultimately didn't matter.

It was the scenes in the away end that made the academy graduate's goal memorable, and his song became a hit in Madrid that night as a result of his goal. At the end of a terrible season, he's been one of the few bright spots left.

His meteoric rise is all the more impressive given that it has occurred almost entirely within the last calendar year, during which time confidence in the squad has plummeted under Ralf Rangnick's leadership. Elanga and, possibly, Jadon Sancho are the only real successes on the training ground for the interim manager, who will be able to pass on his strong opinions to Erik ten Hag.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fired Elanga, he had only 17 minutes under his belt with the first team at the end of the season. One of Rangnick's first decisions was to give the winger more regular playing time, and it turned out to be one of his best.

Under Rangnick's leadership, United has made 22 appearances, with two more for Sweden. In addition to the goal against Real Madrid, Elanga also scored in victories against Brentford and Leeds.

On what turned out to be another dreadful day for United at the weekend, Elanga once again looked like one of the team's more promising players, causing Nuno Tavares issues every time he assumed the left-back position during the 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

Elanga, who is 20 today, started the season on the right wing at the Emirates Stadium, and it would be beneficial for him if he could continue to develop in that position, even if he likes to operate from the left. His difficulty is that he has the same problem as Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Whenever Ten Hag takes over, the club will aim to recruit a right-winger, with Ajax starlet Antony being a possible possibility for the club. On the other side of the field, the Dutchman will find himself in excellent condition.

Given the need for reinforcements in defense, midfield, and attack, it is possible that raising funds to add to the transfer budget will be the most important factor in a successful summer transfer window.

The arrival of Elanga on the scene may be of assistance in this regard. Anthony Martial's time at Manchester United is almost certainly coming to an end this summer, since the club does not require another right-footed attacker who prefers to play from the left to return to the club.

A year ago, United's hand was far weaker when it came to selling the company. Despite the fact that Martial joined Sevilla on loan in January, the 26-year-old has enough admirers to command a decent transfer cost.

Sevilla have scored just one goal in their last 11 games, and the move hasn't had the anticipated effect on either Martial or United's performances. The talented forward who joined at Old Trafford for £50million seven years ago appears increasingly unlikely to ever achieve his full potential at the club.

He hasn't demonstrated enough consistency to suggest he can play as a centre forward in the Premier League, and if he wanted to play on the flank, he would be behind Sancho, Rashford, and Elanga.

Since the advent of Elanga, Martial's importance in Ten Hag's team has diminished significantly. Martial This should be the summer in which United attempt to sell the Frenchman in order to raise some desperately needed dollars.
