Piers Morgan has called for Arsenal to sign Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. The 37-year-contract old's expires at the end of the current season, and he's been linked with a departure.
Even though United had a mostly forgettable season, Ronaldo has done very well since coming back to the club. He has scored 24 goals in 38 games in all competitions. However, his future at Old Trafford remains questionable with the Red Devils due for a summer overhaul under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Former United fan Morgan insists that five-time Ballon D'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has the qualities and experience to succeed in Mikel Arteta's side should the latter leave Old Trafford. On Twitter, the outspoken talk show presenter slammed: "@gabimartinelli @EddieNketiah9 @Cristiano are the right combination of youth, pace and world-class talent/experience for Arsenal's forward line next season.
"And to those who doubt that Ronaldo will come to us, why? He nearly joined us when he was 18.”
Morgan has already stated his wish for Ronaldo to join Arsenal. He explained this to talkSPORT in a recent interview. “If you coupled the United talent with our philosophy, both clubs would be sorted,” he remarked. "I would love nothing more than to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal, and I'm not even kidding." If he's not going to stay at United, I'd take him in a hurry.
"I was able to see that game over the weekend and thought he was the greatest player on the field. As a striker, when you watch Ronaldo's movement and his goal scoring record, even at 37, I'd put Ronaldo in the front and let these kids learn from him.
"I don't believe the younger United players have the same level of respect for Ronaldo as the older guys. I think that the egos are writing cheques that the absence of trophies doesn't cash, and my message to all those young United players is that you're talented, but your egos are out of control and you should be begging Ronaldo for help.

Scott McTominay unwittingly reminded Manchester United about a move.
"If you had even a tenth of his work ethic, his ability, his success and his trophies, all around the world then you'd be much better than you are now, but there's an arrogance there about those players which we don't have at Arsenal."
