Alleged Organ Harvesting: The Nigerian government discusses Ekweremadu's age as a 'victim'

According to the immigration service, Mr. Nwanini presented documents to them from the National Population Commission (NPC) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), both of which stated that his date of birth was October 12, 2000.

Prosecutors in London had claimed that David Nwamini, 21, was an organ harvesting victim; Nigeria's Immigration Service (NIS) on Sunday revealed that he was actually 21 years old, contradicting their assertions.

During a Zoom briefing with journalists, Isah Idris, the comptroller general of the NIS, stated that Mr. Nwanini applied for his foreign passport, which was approved after the passport issuing office conducted extensive checks on the applicant.

According to him, the documents that Mr. Nwamini had supplied to them from the National Population Commission (NPC) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) indicated that his date of birth was October 12, 2000.

He went on to say that Mr. Nwanini was apprehended for the purpose of the foreign passport on November 2, 2021, at the office of the agency located in Gwagwalada.

On Thursday, the London Metropolitan Police charged former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu with the alleged trafficking of Mr. Nwanini in order to harvest his kidney. The charges were brought by the London Metropolitan Police.

The bail application for the pair was denied by the Uxbridge Magistrates' Court in London on the same day.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the prosecutors said that the Ekweremadus were being charged for bringing a 15-year-old boy from Nigeria to the UK with the claim that he was to be given a better life in the UK but it was actually to harvest his organ. The boy was brought to the UK with the claim that he was going to be given a better life in the UK by the Ekweremadus.

It has been stated that the prosecution have informed the court that Mr. Ekweremadu obtained a passport for the youngster and claimed he was 21 years old. However, the prosecutors discovered that he was only 15 years old.

Later on, pictures of Mr. Nwamini's foreign passport started appearing on social media. These pictures showed that Mr. Nwamini was 21 years old, which contradicted the information that the prosecution in London gave in court.

It is thought that the Ekweremadus arranged Mr. Nwamini's travel after he volunteered to give a kidney to their sick daughter. Mr. Nwamini was able to return home safely.

On the other hand, when the young guy arrived in the United Kingdom, it is believed that he disclosed to the authorities there that he is underage and not 21 years old as shown on his passport.

Mr. Idris claims that neither the Metropolitan Police Department, which brought the senator's case to court, nor the senator himself has gotten in touch with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) after the case was made public.

Even if the donor is an adult, it is against the law for anyone in the United Kingdom to be coerced into donating an organ, according to the argument of certain legal professionals.

On July 7, 2018, court proceedings over the Ekweremadus will continue in the UK.
