Ford is raising the price of its electric SUV by $8,000 US Dollars

few weeks after Ford announced price hikes for its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck

A few weeks after Ford announced price hikes for its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck, Ford announced similar price hikes for its other popular electric vehicle, the Mustang Mach-E.

When Ford begins taking orders for the 2023 Mach-E on Tuesday, prices will be around $3,000 for the base model and up to $8,000 for a top-of-the-line, well-equipped SUV version. The price of the base model with rear-wheel drive will increase from about $43,000 to about $46,000. The Mustang Mach-E GT with all-wheel drive and a larger battery will jump from about $62,000 to $69,900. Ford announced the price increases in response to "continued pressure on key supply chains and rapidly changing market conditions." The automaker said it will continue to monitor pricing and market conditions for the upcoming model year. According to Ford, customers who ordered a 2022 model year vehicle that has not yet been scheduled for production and delivery will be offered a 2023 model year vehicle instead. However, the new Mach-E model adds a few extra features. Ford's advanced Co-Pilot 360 driver assistance technology, for example, is standard on all models. These include lane assist, automatic high beam and blind spot monitoring. Additionally, the all-wheel-drive model with the "extended range" battery can go an EPA-estimated 490 miles before needing a charge, a 21-mile increase over the 2022 model. Buyers of the Ford Mustang Mach-E can claim a $7,500 tax credit through the end of 2022. Ford spokesman Dan Barbossa said it's unclear whether the Mach-E will qualify for a tax credit under the new federal rules .
