Ex-Chelsea player Glen Johnson admits about Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel was terminated from his position as manager of Chelsea a week ago. Earlier this year, there were rumors that he was being considered for the manager's job at Man United.

Former right back for both England and Liverpool. According to Glen Johnson, Manchester United could be "kicking themselves" for not waiting to hire Thomas Tuchel as their new manager. Tuchel was their top candidate at the time.

Tuchel was terminated from his position as head coach of Chelsea a little more than a week ago due to disagreements behind the scenes with the club's new owner, Todd Boehly. The German was given the position of succeeding Frank Lampard in January of 2021 and led the club to victory in three major competitions, including the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

His time as manager of Chelsea was marked by a string of victories, and the club's decision to dismiss him was criticized as vindictive by both casual football fans and professional commentators. However, the new owner of the Blues wanted a different philosophy, and he quickly identified Graham Potter as the ideal candidate to take over for Tuchel.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, there was a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Tuchel's future at Stamford Bridge, which led to rumors that he could become the next manager of Manchester United. This was before Boehly purchased the club at the end of May. A ban was placed on former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich by the government of the United Kingdom, which caused the club and its employees to face an uncertain future at the time.

Even though United had already identified Erik ten Hag as their top target, Tuchel was heavily rumored to be a candidate for the vacant position at Old Trafford. Now, former England international Johnson believes that United may be regretting their decision to hire Ten Hag when they did. He maintains that they could have waited for Tuchel instead, despite the fact that doing so would have meant an even longer period in which the club was without a manager.
