Evra argues with French politician Zemmour over Senegal comments.

Patrice Evra has given a furious response to a French politician who attacked him for allegedly quoting him as saying that he should have played for Senegal rather than France. Evra has stated that he did not make those quotes.

Evra denies claims he regrets picking France

The politician Zemmour continued to pile on.

Ex-Man Utd defender fired back

WHAT CAME TO PASS? Evra has asserted that the quotes that have been attributed to him regarding his selection of the national team are not what he actually said and are instead false. Quotes had surfaced suggesting that Evra regretted choosing to play for France rather than Senegal, and a politician from France named Eric Zemmour had attacked him on social media for making that decision.

WHAT HE SAID It is alleged that the former player for Manchester United said the following: "If I could go back in time, I would choose to represent my native country, Senegal, instead of France." He has, however, provided RMC with a denial in which he asserts that the quotes in question are not accurate and were subject to distortion.

THE OVERALL SITUATION Evra has found himself in an online argument with a French politician named Zemmour as a result of the ordeal. Zemmour posted a photo of the quotes on his Instagram account with the caption: "He was welcomed in France, where he received training, where he was supported, where he was enriched, and where he received acclaim. It's just that she forgot to make it in French." Evra wrote in response: "Idiot Eric Zemmour, you should focus on causing more damage to France rather than spreading lies. I have a deep love for the country that you are destroying

Evra appeared 81 times for the France national team, representing Les Bleus at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 European Championships as well as the 2010 and 2014 World Cups (as seen in the accompanying photograph).

WHAT ARE EVRA'S NEXT STEPS? Due to the fact that Evra has issued a denial, the situation currently seems to be resolved. Since ending his playing career, the 41-year-old has become something of a social media sensation, and he will continue to express himself online, including by providing demonstrations of his profound love for his former club, Manchester United.
