12 Man Utd players sickened by 'food poisoning outbreak'

After returning from Moldova following their 2-0 victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday night, several members of Manchester United were hospitalized with what was believed to be a case of food poisoning.

It was reported that Manchester United brought food poisoning back with them from their trip to Moldova, so they came back with more than just three points.

United defeated FC Sheriff by a score of 2-0 in the Europa League match that took place on Thursday night in the Eastern European nation that they were visiting for the first time. After suffering a loss in the competition's first round against Real Sociedad, the team coached by Erik ten Hag was able to get back on track thanks to goals scored by Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half.

United turned in a professional performance and demonstrated further signs of clicking together under the guidance of their new manager. However, the vacation did not live up to expectations because The Sun reported that 12 of the people who went on the trip started to feel sick the morning after they got back from their trip on Friday.

United flew back from Chisinau on a private jet as soon as the game was over, but they still managed to catch an illness. It is hypothesized that the illness could have been transmitted by either the plane itself or something that they consumed while they were there. A few of the players did not show up for the recovery training session that was supposed to take place on Friday at Carrington, while others were still too ill to participate the next day.

Ten Hag was fortunate in that he did not have to rush his preparations for the match against Leeds United that was supposed to take place on Sunday at their stadium. The game had to be postponed because there were not enough police officers available in advance of the state funeral for the Queen that was held on Monday at Westminster Abbey.

It does not appear that any of United's players were unable to join their respective national teams for the upcoming international break due to illness. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were not selected for the England squad that will play Italy and Germany in upcoming friendly matches. On the other hand, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have been included in the squad by Gareth Southgate.
