Toby Collyer in first-team training at Carrington

As they continued their preparation for this weekend's Manchester derby matchup against Manchester City, Manchester United gave some of their younger players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

On Sunday, the team coached by Erik ten Hag will get back into action when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on their raucous neighbors. They will be looking for another win to continue the strong run of form that they have been having.

Due to the fact that a large number of United's star players are still away on international duty until the end of the week, United's preparation for the match has been hindered as a result of the international break.

On Tuesday, however, Ten Hag was able to celebrate the return of several of his senior stars, including Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Scott McTominay, who were all pictured in training.

Due to the absence of a large number of veteran players, the United manager decided to give a group of highly-rated young players the opportunity to showcase their skills. However, only a select few of these players have any chance of being called upon in the coming weeks.

Zidane Iqbal and Alejandro Garnacho are both now considered to be fringe players for the first team rather than prospects for the youth team, although it is possible for the young duo to make appearances for either set of teams throughout the course of this season.

Shola Shoretire and Charlie McNeill, two teenagers who have already made their debuts for the senior team but are still primarily playing for the youth teams at this stage, were also involved in the event. Shola Shoretire and Charlie McNeill were both involved.

Rhys Bennett, Marc Jurado, and Sam Murray, the three members of the youth team who won the Youth Cup, were also a part of this game, as was Bjorn Hardley, the center back for the youth team.

However, the recall of the young player Toby Collyer, who had been acquired from Brighton in the month of March, was perhaps the most intriguing development.

The highly regarded young player, who led England's under-16 and under-17 teams, parted ways with Brighton after the club and he were unable to reach an agreement on the terms of a new contract.

Although he has been on the bench for United U21s's last two games, Collyer, who is only 18 years old, has not yet played for the team this season.
