Gary Neville and 'Football-holic' Erling Haaland Pep Guardiola's first Manchester derby requires patience

Erling Haaland talks about his friendship with Kevin De Bruyne and how former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aided him in developing his heading.

Erling Haaland is more familiar with the importance of the Manchester derby than most new players at a Manchester team. After all, in the early 2000s, his father, Alfie Haaland, played for Manchester City for three seasons.

With 11 goals in seven Premier League appearances, the 22-year-old striker has had an impressive debut. The six-time champs are now practically untouchable thanks to him.

Of course, Pep Guardiola deserves the majority of the credit for this as he has carried over his success from Barcelona and Bayern Munich into the Premier League. Haaland is constantly astounded by his new manager's tactical acumen because of his superior managerial abilities. When asked how frequently he is shocked by how Guardiola views football, the former Manchester United defender responded, "I have this thinking quite often.

"For instance, he tells us what will happen the day before a game, and the following day, it actually does. He is so passionate about football that, at times, I find it hard to believe how it's possible. If you can call him a football-holic, that is. It's absurd.

I want to spend as much time as possible in the box because I am a striker. What should I do there if I don't want to go outside on the side? This is logical because other players are already acting in that way.

"However, we discuss numerous minor details, such as perhaps doing this versus this team or perhaps doing that against this squad. He is an extremely meticulous man who adores details. I really like it. The devil is in the details, and he enjoys them. Working with him is beneficial."

The Champions League is undoubtedly a trophy that Man City has yet to win. Haaland has been referred as as the last element needed for the club to succeed in Europe. The striker must be under some strain.

He told Neville, "No matter what happens or where you play, there will always be pressure on footballers.

Dortmund is under pressure as well because 80,000 supporters attend each home game. The next 10 to 15 years of my life will be spent under constant strain as a football player, with tests every weekend."However, I can't reveal too much about the puzzle piece that is still missing. My goal, however, is to win the Champions League.""You don't need to bring up the subject because I know I'll be there and he will shoot the ball in behind the defense and in front of the goalkeeper, which is the hardest pass to stop. Simply something you are aware of."

Haaland should get to know Kevin De Bruyne, another generational star at Man City. With two of his six assists going to Haaland this year, the Belgian midfielder leads the league in that category.

In describing his teammate, the striker stated, "He's a pretty calm, kind guy." "We laugh a lot and unwind a lot together. You are aware of the dynamics in the locker room among the men. It's very lovely. We joke frequently about the same topics and have a wonderfully calm connection.

"I've had it before I even arrived here, when you watch a football game and you can picture yourself in the action. It's a striker's dream, as you can see this season, when he would shoot in all the balls and no one would be there to catch them.

Haaland is prepared for his debut in the derby.

When Haaland leaves the club alongside his teammates from Man City, it will be a memorable occasion.

He can sense the difference around the club ahead of the derby and will be looking to have a similar match-winning impact as he has so far in the Premier League.

He mused, "Yes, it does feel different. "When I arrived in England [after serving abroad], Sunday was the first thing that came to me. It is little more perceptible here and there. I'm looking forward to playing in my first derby.
