Manchester United's Europa League lineup against Omonia Nicosia

On Thursday, Man United will take on Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League, and our contributors have provided their starting lineups of choice for the matchup.

United play Omonia on Thursday

On Thursday evening, the Europa League match between Manchester United and Omonia Nicosia will take place.

United's first match in their Europa League group was a loss to Real Sociedad, but Erik ten Hag's team quickly got back on track and defeated FC Sheriff 2-0 in Chisinau a month ago thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. United are currently in second place in their group.

Ten Hag will be aware of the importance of winning the Europa League group, and it is expected that he will play a strong side against Omonia, who are managed by former Celtic manager Neil Lennon. Ronaldo and Casemiro are both in contention to start the game against Omonia.

Omonia are currently in fourth place in the Cypriot first division, and they have not been successful in either of their Europa League matches so far this season. The following formation is what our writers believe United should play with

Tom Heaton has not yet made his debut for United in a full game, and there is no reason not to allow him to do so against Omonia. There is little risk involved. Luke Shaw should get some playing time, and Raphael Varane, assuming he was healthy enough to play, should have been benched for this match.

It would be beneficial to give Christian Eriksen some time off, and Casemiro and Fred have started alongside each other numerous times for Brazil. The leadership of United can continue to be provided by Bruno Fernandes, and the addition of Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo would breathe new life into the attack.

There is not much point in making De Gea the starting goalkeeper for every game this season. As Dubravka is now fully fit and a member of the squad, he is an option to start here, while Heaton will get the nod at Old Trafford the following week.
As a result of injuries, three of the four defenders—Dalot, Lindelof, and Martinez—will be starting for themselves. Malacia had a difficult time playing left back at the Etihad Stadium, and Shaw's performances for England as well as his 45 minutes on Sunday should earn him a recall.
It would appear that Casemiro still has work to do in order to convince Ten Hag, but a start here appears to be an obvious place to begin that, and he will be able to link up with fellow Brazilian Fred, who has also been short on playing time. After completing his pre-match media obligations, it appears as though Fernandes will get the starting nod.
Even though Ronaldo didn't play at all on Sunday, Martial and Rashford, both of whom can play on the left, need some game time in order to stay fit for this match. Elanga should start at Goodison Park, allowing Antony to get some rest before the game.

Martin Dubravka was Newcastle's first-choice goalkeeper up until the summer, and the Magpies should give him the nod in the match against Omonia, which would be his debut for the club. After suffering an injury while playing for Slovakia, Dubraka is now fully recovered and demonstrates an impressive level of capability.

Despite the fact that Casemiro has seen limited playing time since his transfer from Real Madrid, the Brazilian defender has a chance to start two of the next four games. The Brazilian should serve as the rock in the middle of the field in Cyprus, and he should get the nod in Sunday's Premier League match against Everton.

Both Rashford and Sancho played poorly in the Manchester derby, so it would be best to leave them on the bench for this match.
