Erik ten Hag's Casemiro dilemma after Rio Ferdinand's "chicken feed" comment

Erik ten Hag must decide whether to start Casemiro when Manchester United travel to Everton on Sunday.

When Manchester United travel to Everton on Sunday evening, Casemiro may get the opportunity to make his first start for the club.

The Brazilian has made all five of his Premier League games from the substitute bench, including the Red Devils' 6-3 loss at Manchester City, where he played the second half of the match. In all, he has made six Premier League appearances. At the Etihad Stadium, where United suffered a humiliating defeat, Casemiro was on the field for the final 31 minutes of play.

After making the £60 million move from Real Madrid in the summer, many people expected Casemiro to come immediately into the XI, but he has had to bide his time to get used to Erik ten Hag's style of play. Casemiro was expected to enter straight into the XI after making the move. It probably didn't help matters that Scott McTominay turned in a brilliant performance against Liverpool, and he has almost never made a mistake in the games that have followed.

Until, that is, the Manchester derby, when McTominay played poorly and United played much better after Casemiro entered the game. Until then, McTominay had been playing well. Things couldn't have gotten much worse, but the ex-Real Madrid player demonstrated why he should be considered for a starting role at Goodison Park.

Anthony Martial scored two late goals to help make the scoreline look more respectable. When he was on the field, Manchester United had significantly more possession of the ball and were much more at ease. Antony scored the lone goal for Manchester United, while Erling Haaland and Phil Foden each scored a hat-trick for the team that currently holds the title of Premier League champion.

Erik ten Hag didn't start Casemiro in the Manchester derby .

Casemiro, who started for United in their first two Europa League matches against Real Sociedad and Sherriff, was named in the side to travel to Omonia Nicosia on Thursday night. This continued his run of playing in every game for the Red Devils, which began when he was named in the side to play against Sherriff. In United's victory, in which he played as the third member of a three-man midfield alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, he was outstanding. The score of the game was 3-2.
The 30-year-old player had 82 touches on the ball, an 81% success rate with his passes, and he successfully completed all of his dribbles. Despite the fact that Omonia are currently fourth in the Cypriot premier league, Neil Lennon's team made it difficult for United. However, Casemiro displayed his class throughout the match, and the Red Devils dominated the proceedings despite taking a deficit into halftime.

Casemiro was dominant defensively, winning both of his tackles, seven of his recoveries, and eight of his nine aerial duels. He also made seven recoveries. Since it is anticipated that Everton will play on the counter-attack with their pace in behind, this could be a game in which Casemiro plays because of his ability to stop attacks quickly with his destructive style and the fact that Everton is expected to play this way.

Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray will try to expose United in wide areas, which is why players like Amadou Onana and Tom Davies are so important for providing creativity in the center of the field. Casemiro will be able to keep the Red Devils in check if they maintain their compact shape and prevent Everton from easily opening them up. The Red Devils must maintain their compact shape.

Casemiro may have to settle for a spot on the bench if Ten Hag chooses to stick with the tried-and-true lineup that had won four consecutive Premier League matches in a row prior to their loss in the Manchester derby. Rio Ferdinand, a former defender for Manchester United, has harshly criticized the decision that Ten Hag has made to gradually incorporate Casemiro into life at Old Trafford. Ferdinand has urged Ten Hag to give the midfielder a more prominent role on the team.

When asked about it on his show on YouTube called Vibe with FIVE, Ferdinand stated, "He's been getting chicken feed." A couple of months ago, he was named the Player of the Match in the Champions League final, and that victory marked the fifth Champions League title that he has taken home.

"He served as the team's anchor back when he was playing for Real Madrid. He's been given scraps. Put the man into the game from the very beginning and tell him, "Bang, you're playing." You can't judge a man based on what he eats for breakfast."
