Graeme Souness compares Ronaldo to Messi using Erling Haaland.

On Sunday, striker Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United scored his 700th goal for the club, which he accomplished against Everton.

After Manchester United beat Everton, Graeme Souness praised Cristiano Ronaldo.

After the veteran striker scored his 700th club goal in Manchester United's victory against Everton on Sunday, former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness lauded the individual accomplishments of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo scored the goal for Manchester United in their victory over Everton.

Ronaldo started the match against the Toffees on the bench, but he was brought into the game in the first half after Anthony Martial, who was seen clutching his hip before kickoff, was forced off with an injury just before the half hour mark. Ronaldo finished the match with a goal and an assist against the Toffees.

Casemiro set up the 37-year-old substitute to score his first goal of the Premier League season for the Reds when he played him in on the left side of the penalty area. The goal was the 37-year-first old's for the Reds and it came after he had replaced the French attacker.

His left-footed finish past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was his 700th goal in club football, and it led to widespread praise from his manager, teammates, and former players and pundits. Everton's goalkeeper Pickford was the recipient of the praise.

Souness, a former player for Liverpool who is now with Manchester City, argued that Ronaldo is deserving of the title of "one of the greatest players in the history of the game" by citing Erling Haaland as an example to support his position.

"Would you mind if I read you something for a moment? "Haaland will need to score 43 goals a season for the next 16 seasons just to level Cristiano's record," Souness said on talkSPORT. This scenario assumes that Ronaldo does not score again and that Haaland continues to play until he is 38 years old.

"43 goals a season for the next 16 years? " "43 goals a season for the next 16 years? What kind of message does that send about him? Because of this, he is able to converse with anyone who has ever played football by simply sitting in the same room with them and saying, "you know what? I am the greatest football player who ever lived.'

"I've always favored Messi; he and Ronaldo are the two greatest players of all time in my opinion, and longevity is a factor." If Maradona had been playing soccer in the modern era, there would have been different influences, but I'm sure we'd still be talking about longevity.

"Ronaldo has done it in the big leagues, Messi has done the business in Spain and the Champions League, but Cristiano has done it in three leagues now; Spain, Italy, and England." "Messi has huffed and puffed in the French league, done the business in Spain and the Champions League."

The 37-year-old player has been vocal about his desire to move on from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window; however, a move did not come to fruition despite reported interest from a number of clubs located all over the world. The legendary player from Real Madrid has already participated in 10 games for United so far this season, but he has only started four of those games.
