In Manchester United's most recent two Premier League matches, Harry Maguire has been a noticeable presence in the team's locker room.

Maguire had been recovering from a thigh strain that has kept him out of action for the past three games at the Quinta do Lago resort in Portugal, where he had been training.

After attending the Manchester derby a week earlier, the 29-year-old made sure he got back in time to watch Manchester United beat Everton by a score of 2-1 on the road on Sunday.

Maguire, who had been benched in August, was reportedly "in the thick of it" before and after United's most recent Premier League matches, according to a source.

Players for United are expected to show up for home games unless they have been given special permission to be somewhere else, but they are not required to travel to away games.

Maguire typically participates in all of United's domestic matches, regardless of whether or not he is available for them, as club legend Wayne Rooney suggested to him the previous year.

In March of 2016, while Rooney was sidelined with an injury, he traveled with the rest of the United squad to Manchester City. Before the game, Rooney gave a speech that inspired the team to a 1-0 victory. Since Manchester United's humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford on August 13, Maguire has not started in the Premier League. Additionally, he has only appeared in one of United's last nine games, and that was in the Europa League match against Real Sociedad.

Although manager Erik ten Hag has decided that Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are his preferred pairing, Victor Lindelof has started the last two games in place of Varane because the latter is not yet fully match-fit.

United will play ten more games in the domestic season before the World Cup kicks off on November 20 and brings an end to the regular season.
