Rashford, United's leading scorer, was frustrated with his finishing against Omonia.
After two sloppy performances against Omonia Nicosia, Erik ten Hag is adamant that Manchester United must find a way to distribute the goals among all of their players in order to be successful.
Over the course of the two matches, Manchester United had 65 shots on goal against the Cypriot team, but they were only successful on four occasions. The game-winning goal for United at Old Trafford on Thursday night was scored by substitute Scott McTominay in the 93rd minute.
McTominay, a midfielder for United, scored his first goal of the season and became the first player on the team who was not a forward to score a goal so far this season when he got on the scoresheet.
Marcus Rashford, who leads United in scoring with five goals, was unable to capitalize on several opportunities while the team was playing Omonia. After scoring twice in Nicosia the previous week, the 24-year-old player unleashed ten shots on goal directed at Francis Uzoho.
Anthony Martial has scored three goals despite having only started one game, becoming the first United player to do so, while Cristiano Ronaldo has only scored two and Bruno Fernandes has only scored one. Antony was the first United player to score in their first three Premier League appearances. United has a lower goal-scoring total in the league compared to teams like Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, and their opponent on Sunday, Newcastle.
When asked if United had forwards capable of scoring 20 goals in a season, Ten Hag responded, "Yes, I'm confident, mostly." "There are players on each of my teams who are capable of scoring. They enter the position, and in the final stage, it's also about the freedom the player gives them, their intuition, and the space they need to take up.
"When they have that mindset, you will notice that when they have the ability, when they have the potential, they will score that number of goals. When they have that mindset, they will score goals.
"I believe that within our team we have players who are capable of scoring that many goals, but you can also split it up because we have so many goal scorers across the board in the offensive department. However, I believe that we also require something from the defensive and the midfield departments.
"[Rashford] was successful in a lot of different areas, but in the end he realized that he needed to be more clinical and that he needed to score a goal. When you have such good movements and are able to make such good combinations, it is time to finish.
"I am aware that there are times when it is the game, it is not your night, and it is about the form of the day; however, it is possible for it to change in another game. I believe that he is currently enjoying a really good run, and it is evident in the opportunities that he creates.
"Now we're talking about two games in a row where he's been a little unlucky. Both on Sunday and today, he had opportunities to score, but his chances were squandered by the opposition. My advice is to put it off until the following week.
