Mason Greenwood, a football player for Manchester United, was granted release at an earlier court hearing and was then seen driving away from the grounds of the jail in Wales in a vehicle.
The English international footballer, who is 21 years old and plays for the English national team, was not present for the bail application hearing that took place in Manchester on Wednesday morning (October 19). He has been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, and assault leading to actual bodily harm.
In the past, the Manchester Magistrates' Court has heard that he is charged with attempted rape in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on October 22, 2021; engaging in controlling and coercive behavior between November 1, 2018 and October 15, 2022, specifically accessing and monitoring social media accounts; stopping and altering the way the complainant socialized; and making threatening and derogatory comments towards a female; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a period between December and February of 2021.
At the Minshull Street Crown Court, today's (Wednesday's) hearing was conducted behind closed doors.
Mr. Greenwood was granted bail by Judge John Potter on the condition that he refrain from communicating with any witnesses in the case, including the complainant, and that he remain at a particular address in Trafford.
The preliminary hearing for this matter will take place in the Minshull Street Crown Court on November 21, and it has been postponed until that day.
Mr. Greenwood, who is from Trafford, was released on bail pending the subsequent hearing.
Later, a picture was taken of a car leaving HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, Wales. Inside the car was Mr. Greenwood. Following its departure from the premises of the jail, the black Audi returned to the parking lot.
