Fans of Manchester United have been singing the praises of David de Gea after the incredible double save he made in their match against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

United was leading 1-0 in Spain when the home team made a break forward, but the United stopper was in inspired form and made the save. First, the 31-year-old blocked a shot from a distance, but Pablo Marin was quick to capitalize on the opportunity. De Gea, who was on the ground at the time, reacted exceptionally well to deflect the ball over the crossbar. It appeared as though the player was going to score by tapping the ball home.

It ensured that United would keep the lead that they had gained 17 minutes earlier courtesy of Alejandro Garnacho's magnificent finish. After receiving a nice pass from Cristiano Ronaldo, the young forward fired the ball into the top corner of the goal. To finish first and avoid a play-off early the following year against one of the teams that did not qualify for the Champions League, United needs to win by a margin of at least two goals.
