Piers Morgan's full interview with Cristiano Ronaldo will be broadcast over the course of two evenings later this week. On Monday morning, Morgan discussed the conversation on the radio and it will be broadcast in its entirety later this week.
Piers Morgan claims that Cristiano Ronaldo was the one who initially approached him to conduct their now-famous interview, but Ronaldo has refused to disclose the date on which the interview was recorded.
Ronaldo reprimanded Manchester United for their treatment of him during his return stint, saying he felt "betrayed" and accusing several people of attempting to force him out of the club. He also claimed that several people were trying to force him out of the club. The 37-year-old player also stated that he did not respect manager Erik ten Hag, who had suspended him for his early exit during the match against Tottenham, because Erik ten Hag "doesn't show respect for me." After failing to secure a transfer away from Old Trafford over the summer, he had promised to discuss everything that took place during that time in an interview before the start of the new season. He had given the time frame of a few weeks, but that period of time passed without a comment being made.
Many people are upset with Ronaldo for both the content of his comments and the timing of the release of his most recent interview. Morgan shared excerpts and quotes from their conversation just a few hours after Manchester United's victory over Fulham, which came courtesy of an injury-time goal scored by Alejandro Garnacho and served as the club's final match before the World Cup break.
Morgan went on to say that the Portugal captain, who had been absent from the team's previous two matches due to illness, was the one who suggested conducting the interview. While being interviewed on talkSPORT, he provided the following explanation: "Cristiano asked me to do it, simple as that, he asked me." It's no secret that he's been feeling a deep built-up frustration about what's been happening at Manchester United. Recently, he's been thinking about it for a while, and it's no secret that he's been thinking about it for a while.
"He believes it was time to speak out, and while he is aware that what he has to say is provocative and that it will shake some cages, he also believes that he should be doing this. He is well aware that those who disagree with him will criticize him, but what he is saying is accurate, and the truth can be unpleasant at times.
When asked when he had the conversation with Cristiano, he responded, "I'm not going to say - [we had] done it recently but that's between me and Cristiano."
"He's been thinking about this for a while, and then I got a call saying, 'I want to do it now.' And I think part of the timing was because the World Cup is about to start, because he could have a good World Cup, and because it gives him a month away from United and time for what he's said to settle in, and then they can try to resolve things.
"He makes the point in the interview repeatedly that he loves Manchester United, that he loves the fans, but what he's come back to, in his view, is the stagnant club which hasn't moved on from the way that he's left it. " He is unable to comprehend the rationale behind this, and he is under the impression that nothing will improve if he remains silent.
