The explosive interview that Cristiano Ronaldo had with Piers Morgan was released in bits and pieces just in time for the Match of the Day 2 panel to discuss Ronaldo's statements on Sunday evening.
Both Jermaine Jenas and Jermain Defoe have voiced their disapproval of Cristiano Ronaldo's provocative remarks that he made about Manchester United on Sunday.
The perpetrator of the attack has leveled a number of allegations against the club, including the assertions that he is being "forced out" and that he feels "betrayed." After claiming that he did not know who Ralf Rangnick was prior to his appointment as interim manager the year before, Ronaldo recently stated that he does not respect new manager Erik ten Hag because he "doesn't show respect for me." Ronaldo's comments come after he stated that he did not know who Ralf Rangnick was prior to his appointment as manager the year before. After the superstar player refused to come off the bench and walked down the tunnel before full-time in the team's 2-0 victory over Tottenham a few days earlier, he was not included in the United squad that played against Chelsea the previous month. Pundit Jenas is just one of many people who have spoken out publicly to express their shock and displeasure at Ronaldo's outburst. Jenas stated on Match of the Day 2 that she was "totally baffled and confused as to why he's done this interview." Jenas was referring to the interview's subject. "I think it leads you to see how Cristiano Ronaldo is obviously feeling right and how he's felt all throughout the season. The timing of it leads you to see that."
"Throughout the course of the entire year, we have witnessed nothing but almost tantrum-like behavior while walking down the tunnel. It was reported that he was sick today. Piers Morgan is currently conducting interviews with him. He is a player who is prone to frustration.
"I have been saying from the very beginning that the entire situation involving Cristiano Ronaldo this year has been mismanaged by the club. Today just doesn't feel right to me, regardless of whether or not he thinks he was lied to. He must be dismissed from his position at United."
However, Jenas did concede how he somewhat empathizes with Ronaldo in the perspective of Ten Hag "using" Ronaldo to bolster his own status. Jenas said he sees it from Ronaldo's point of view that Ten Hag is "using" Ronaldo to boost his own status. His explanation was as follows: "He feels like he is being used in some way, like he is the black sheep, the one to throw the stick at."
"I do get the impression that at times with Ten Hag, he was able to elevate his position at the football club when he treats Cristiano Ronaldo in a certain way," the narrator says. "When he treats Cristiano Ronaldo in a certain way." Because of this, he is able to get the dressing room to behave properly.
"But at the same time, Ronaldo is responsible for modeling his behavior after that of the rest of the team," the coach said. If I were the manager, I wouldn't allow him to be involved with the team at this time. "They're never going to forget what Ronaldo has done for them, but this young lad [Alejandro Garnacho, who scored the stoppage-time winner against Fulham] looks like he has a lot of potential."
In the meantime, another former England international, Defoe, referred to Ronaldo's interview as "disappointing" and questioned the thought process that went into Ronaldo's decision to organize it. He stated, "To tell you the truth, I find it very disappointing.
