Manchester United's strongest lineup with £43m Transfer Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo is attracting interest from Man United, who are looking to add a striker to their roster during the month of January transfer window.

Gakpo could sign

Since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, Manchester United no longer has anyone else who can play in the center of the forward line besides Anthony Martial.

Before Ronaldo left the club, Erik ten Hag stated that it is a "fact" that his attacking options are limited, and it is obvious that this is the area in which needs to be strengthened next. As a result, the club is now open to signing a forward during the transfer window that is currently open in the month of January.

Marcus Rashford has spent the majority of this season playing in the center of the field, despite the fact that the left side of the field is where he performs at his best. Meanwhile, Anthony Martial has missed the majority of the season due to injury, highlighting the need for additional players.

In the summer, Ten Hag signed Antony from Ajax, but he was also interested in signing Cody Gakpo from PSV. Gakpo has scored two goals for the Netherlands at the World Cup, and it is understood that Old Trafford is still interested in the player. Antony was signed in the summer.

Gakpo, who is currently 23 years old, has spent the majority of his time playing for PSV on the left wing. However, it is believed that he has the ability to play as a striker, and he has contributed an impressive 13 goals and 17 assists in just 23 matches across all competitions this season.

Marcel Brands, the director of sports operations for PSV, was recently questioned about Gakpo and responded as follows when asked about the player: "If [Manchester] United offered the money that we wanted to have for Cody, then we would have sold him. You won't be able to stop him in that case. We planned to reach €50 million with the help of bonuses.

Brands insisted that PSV would have sold Gakpo for €50 million, which is roughly equivalent to £43 million, in the summer, and the Dutch club could be receptive to a similar offer in January, despite insisting that the player is unlikely to leave in the winter window. Brands said that Gakpo is unlikely to leave in the winter window.

However, Gakpo is still enthusiastic about a departure from PSV, and this could end up being the deciding factor. When questioned regarding the rumors of a transfer over the weekend, he responded, "Yeah, what you said is right." "My attention is currently focused on the World Cup, but I enjoy hearing rumors like these.

"But, you know, all I'm trying to do is concentrate on this and give it my best shot. It does not come as a surprise to me [that he has performed so well]. I am well aware of my capabilities, but it is never easy to perform at your absolute best in any given situation. I believe there are many areas in which I have room for advancement.

During that press conference in the Netherlands, Gakpo openly discussed the possibility of leaving PSV, so if Ten Hag signs him, what might United's strongest line-up look like? According to what Ten Hag has expressed his desire for, the front three would undoubtedly be "dynamic."

Rashford would play on the left wing, where he is at his best, while Antony would take up position on the right side of the field. Gakpo would play in the middle. Rashford already has eight goals scored for him this season, and if he were to regularly start on that side, he could potentially reach yet another level.

Additionally, Gakpo and Rashford might switch positions, which is an intriguing possibility to consider. Both Manchester City and Liverpool, which have been the two best teams in the Premier League over the last five years, have fluid attacks. United's front three with Gakpo has the potential to be prolific, and both Manchester City and Liverpool have fluid attacks.

The front three would also be supported by Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Bruno Fernandes, who together make up the best midfield at Old Trafford and have done so for several years. Playing alongside Gakpo, who is capable of finishing off games, would also be beneficial for Fernades and Eriksen.

Although most people anticipated that United would finish outside of the top four this season, the team still has a shot at qualifying for the Champions League.

De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes, Antony, Gakpo, and Rashford make up the strongest eleven players.
