The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to over 100 self-funded overseas students. Note that the scholarships are highly competitive and will be awarded based on academic achievement.

Scholarships at the University of Manchester in 2022 | DETAILS


The University's Faculties and Schools have developed a variety of subject-specific programs to assist their students. The following are available scholarships for international students:

The Manchester Science and Engineering Scholarships for International Excellence
The award is available to all self-funded, fee-paying overseas students, with consideration based on their UCAS application. Twenty grants of £3,000 each year for up to four years of study are available.

The Morton International Excellence Award


The Morton Award for International Excellence is given to self-funded international Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science students. The highest-performing applicants will be paid £3,000 each year for up to four years of education, based on a competitive process.

International Pharmacy Bursary


The pharmacy prize is £2,000 per year for self-funded international students. Applicants can contact ug.pharmacy@manchester.ac.uk for more information.

Optometry International Scholarship


The optometry award is worth £2,000 per year and is given to international students with a passion for optometry. For more information, applicants can contact ug.optometry@manchester.ac.uk.

Psychology International Fellowship


The £2,000-per-year merit-based bursary is offered to five overseas students who have been admitted to the three-year Psychology program. Please email ug.psychology@manchester.ac.uk for further information.

Excellence in the School of Biological Sciences Scholarship


Each year, £2,000 is offered to international students who have been accepted into any of the School of Biological Sciences' undergraduate programs. Please contact ug.biosciences@manchester.ac.uk for any information.

Foundation Year School of Biological Sciences Bursary


The prize of £14,750 is made to international students who have been accepted to the Biosciences Foundation Year program. This scholarship is only for the Foundation Year. Please contact ug.biosciences@manchester.ac.uk for any information.

Distinguished Academic Excellence Awards


Each year, the University grants roughly £1,000 to the top 0.5% of graduating undergraduates. Nominations are made by Departments; email fse-scholarships@manchester.ac.uk for more information.

BP Achievement Awards

presented to first- and second-year undergraduates in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences (including Geology), Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.

Students enrolled in related courses are required to compose a 1,000-word essay on a certain topic. There are a maximum of three awards per Department per year. Typically, email and poster advertising is initiated in December and ends in February. Students are picked based on their admission requirements / first-year exam results and the substance of their application/essay. BP Stem Academic Awards


In the disciplines of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences (including Geology), Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, and first-year undergraduates receive £3,000 annually.

Students enrolled in eligible programs are encouraged to apply online (normally in November of their first year). Students are chosen based on their applications, online examinations, and interviews. International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships


The Faculty of Science and Engineering awards £2,000 annually to highly qualified international students enrolled in any undergraduate degree program.

Excellence Scholarships in India


Three Indian students pursuing the International Baccalaureate who demonstrate exceptional levels of achievement are rewarded £80,000. The top student will receive a £40,000 scholarship, payable at a rate of £10,000 per year for up to four years of study. Two students will receive a £20,000 scholarship, payable at £5,000 each year for a maximum of four years.

William Boyd Dawkins Academic Awards


The reward of £1,000 is presented to pupils with an A-level grade of AAA (or equivalent). To be eligible, offer recipients must have selected the University as their top option. Recipients will receive a one-time payment of £1,000 during their first year of study if they are successful. Send an email to ug-earth-sci@manchester.ac.uk for additional information.

Programmes in materials science and engineering


Outstanding home and international applicants for all Materials Science and Engineering Programmes are eligible for an immediate £5,000 Department of Materials and Faculty scholarship if they receive A*A*A* (or equivalent) grades at A-level, or £3,000 if they achieve A*A*A grades (or equivalent). International Scholarship in Mathematics


All new overseas students who meet the mathematical threshold for admission are paid £1,000. The award, which is payable for the duration of your undergraduate degree, whether three or four years, is paid immediately in the first year; subsequent payments are contingent on maintaining a minimum exam average of 65%. All international students are automatically considered for this scholarship and need not apply. We'll let you know if you're eligible for the International Mathematics Scholarship as soon as we determine whether you meet the prerequisites.

Scholarship for International Mathematical Excellence


These excellence scholarships pay up to £2,000 for one academic year and are granted to the top students each year depending on their exam performance from the preceding year. For further information, please contact ug-maths@manchester.ac.uk.

The Physics Success Award


The reward of £2,000 is payable during the first year of study to overseas students who have excelled in their tests. Send an email to ug-physics@manchester.ac.uk for more details.

National Instruments Scholarship Program for Engineers


The award gives a paid internship and the opportunity for additional employment to first-year undergraduates studying related courses.

Power Academy Scholarships in Engineering

The prize consists of an IET membership, a stipend, a contribution toward tuition costs and books/software, and professional development training for BEng/MEng students with excellent results who are majoring in electrical or power engineering. Scholarships from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers

The Engineering and Technology Institution (IET)


The grant gives assistance of up to £3,000 per year to students who are going to enroll in an IET-accredited MEng or BEng degree program and are projected to get at least three Bs at A-level (or equivalent). For additional details, please visit the IET website.

Manchester Law Scholars Award


The prize covers up to 25 percent of the annual international undergraduate tuition charge. International students enrolling full-time in the Department of Law and paying international tuition fees. The grant is not accessible to any students joining a degree programme after Year 1. More information can be obtained on the Department of Law website.
