Cristiano Ronaldois expected to return for Manchester Unitedagainst Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ronaldo missed Manchester City's 4-1 defeat last week due to a hip flexor injury, but returned to full training on Thursday.
Luke Shaw is remains unavailable due to a positive Covid-19 test, and Scott McTominay is a doubt due to a calf injury. Edinson Cavani is also expected to return following a six-game absence due to a groin injury.
"He resumed training yesterday," Ronaldo's agent, Ralf Rangnick, stated. "He trained the entire training session and I anticipate him training again today. He, like the rest of the gang, trained diligently. I would have assumed he was accessible the next day.
"Luke Shaw will continue to be left out. He was still testing positive for Covid as of yesterday. Scotty is a question mark; he had some calf issues, and we'll have to wait and see what happens after training. At the moment, it is more likely that he will not be available since if we risk him tomorrow, he will most certainly miss Tuesday's game (against Atletico Madrid). When it comes to some muscular disorders, particularly those involving the calf, I prefer to be cautious.
For us, the most important game is tomorrow's matchup against Tottenham; we must win that one. We had a terrific training week; the players are fully aware of the importance of the game; their focus and camaraderie were evident during training sessions.
Despite the fact that Ronaldo had been pronounced unfit for the derby, Rangnickwas unwilling to discuss his decision to fly to Portugal on a day off. Monday and Tuesday were rest days for Manchester United's players, but manager Ralf Rangnick insisted he had no problem with the Portuguese.
When asked if he was happy at Manchester United or Bayern Munich, Rangnick shrugged. To me, it's critical that he's fit again. He resumed training yesterday, and we'll see what formation and lineup we use tomorrow.
"It doesn't make sense to look back on what happened the last six or seven days, for me what is important is what happens today and tomorrow. It doesn't make sense to go through all this. He and Edi are both back in training and both are available for tomorrow."
