Thomas Tuchel has been identified as the number one manager target by Manchester United.

What a fascinating story this would make! – According to reports, Manchester United has picked Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as their top contender to succeed interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

New reports indicate Chelsea's manager has overtaken Paris Saint Germain's Mauricio Pochettino as their top managerial target, according to The Daily Star.

When Tuchel, 48, took over for former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, he immediately made an impression.

Aside from guiding the team to their second Champions League appearance in as many seasons after only six months, the German has played a crucial role in keeping the dressing room together, which is especially important given the club's current predicament following owner Roman Abramovich's recent sanctioning.

Is Thomas Tuchel on his way to Manchester United?
In the hands of new CEO Richard Arnold, the Manchester United management will be confident that the club's reputation will continue to carry enough weight to attract some of the game's brightest young stars in the future.

Nonetheless, the team's reputation will surely be damaged by the 2-1 (agg) loss to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, as will the team's inability to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Make no mistake, when it comes to high-profile managers who have proven to be capable of managing even more high-profile talents, Tuchel may be the best.

Manchester United is interested in hiring Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

A massive statement of purpose would be sent by luring him away from one of their biggest domestic rivals, and one that would no doubt keep Chelsea fans awake at night.

In addition to Tuchel's future at the club, CaughtOffside has learned that director Marina Granovskaia's tenure at the club is also in doubt.
