The Red Devils were eliminated from the Champions League at the last 16 stage after losing 1-0 at home to Atletico Madrid Friday night, effectively destroying any hopes of a positive season.

Desailly singled out Pogba for harsh comments in what has been an unsuccessful stint for him at Old Trafford. Pogba didn't start the game.

"You can't compare Paul Pogba to Fred, [Scott] McTominay, or [Nemanja] Matic in terms of quality," Desailly told beIN Sports.

"However, he is a slacker, and if you allow him to act as a playmaker behind [Cristiano] Ronaldo, he will take advantage of the situation.

When everything goes smoothly, he's amazing. Whenever he doesn't perform well, offensively he hasn't gone to the level that everyone expected him to, and at the same time he will cheat a little bit and refuse to drop back.

When it comes to the middle, "he cheats a little bit and doesn't help defensively."

Pogba's contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the current season, and it's difficult to imagine him continuing with the club.
