In the argument over Manchester United, Jamie Carragher takes a personal shot at Gary Lineker.

It was originally about the Manchester United players that Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker got into a Twitter spat about.

Despite the club's humbling home defeat to Atletico Madrid, Gary Neville has slammed the club's stars for some of their recent public appearances at major events.

However, Lineker justified the United players' desire to have fun, saying that social media means these things are more focused on than they would have been in the past. Neville disagrees, saying they should keep their heads down following their Champions League elimination.

This was Carragher's answer when the Match of the Day host said he would not modify his behavior following a poor result...

It's natural to feel sad and not want to face people after a defeat like that, and the former Liverpool defender added, "I can't believe you haven't felt like that," in what could be interpreted as an insult to Lineker's mentality during his playing days.

The fact that Lineker did not have a reputation for being overly aggressive or obsessed with winning may have contributed to his lack of being the stereotypical player in certain ways, but that clearly did not prevent him from having a successful career at the highest level.

However, there is some controversy regarding the manner in which Manchester United's players conduct themselves, and this swipe from Carragher appears to be harsh.
