Video For Erik Ten Hag to be a success at Manchester United, these are five things the club needs to do.

Welcoming your return! With rumours that Erik Ten Hag has met and impressed club executives at Manchester United, join me as I go over five things that Ralf Rangnick and Manchester United can do before the season ends to ensure the next permanent manager is a success.

First and foremost, they must begin to include young people. Erik ten Hag has produced two outstanding teams over his four seasons at Ajax, transforming young talents, particularly academy graduates, into Champions League-caliber players with his coaching and tactics. A number of promising young players have already emerged from Manchester United's junior system and could be ready to make their way up to the first squad. Players such as Kobi Maimoudao, Charlie McNeil, and Alejandro Garnacho have all impressed in their respective teams' youth systems.

The following step is to sign a defensive midfielder. The position has been a source of contention for years, but Erik Ten Hag's tactics rely on the presence of a suitable player who can anchor his midfield and give balance in attack while also providing protection against transition. Declan Rice is an excellent choice, but Aurélien Tchouaméni and Kalvin Phillips are both less expensive alternatives to consider. Strengthening Manchester United's soft centre will also benefit the defense, which will have more protection in front of them as a result of which United will be a more tough team to penetrate.

Manchester United also require the addition of a mobile central defender to increase their ability to defend with a high line, as well as the acquisition of a left-footed right winger to assist Ten Hag in establishing his tactical identity. Ten Hag's Ajax teams have benefited greatly from the presence of left-footed attackers, whilst Manchester United's senior forwards are heavily favored by their right footed counterparts. Transfers such as bringing Antony with him from Ajax or signing Raphinha from Leeds United would make significant upgrades to United's first team, though it is expected that Amad Diallo will be given an opportunity under a new coach.

Finally, and maybe most importantly on the list, Manchester United must develop a long-term transfer strategy and hire a Director of Football who will be in charge of player acquisitions. Even if Erik ten Hag is unsuccessful, the club can continue to improve by signing the right players and engaging the right coaches as part of a long-term strategy developed by the club's board of directors. United can completely restructure their team if they hire a Director of Football who is capable of overseeing the process. They may get rid of players who don't want to be there and replace them with a group of motivated and skilled footballers. Manchester United will only be able to return to the top of the footballing world if they continue to do so year after year.

But, what are your thoughts? Is there anything else Manchester United can do to assist Erik ten Hag in his quest for a new home? Please share your opinions with me in the comments section below!
