Former Manchester United great Ben Foster says he "could have been the best player in the world"

When it comes to the best player in the world, Ben Foster believes an unexpected former Manchester United colleague may have been that guy.

Foster played with Manchester United for five years, but only made 12 appearances in the Premier League during that time. During his time in the Premier League, he worked with some of the best players the league has ever seen, but he has singled out one unusual player who, in his opinion, did not live up to his promise.

He might have been the best player in the world at some point in his career, I guarantee you he could have. " Everyone would agree that he had the potential to be the best in the world at one point."

Even though Anderson lasted eight years with the club and made 105 league appearances, his performance did not match the high expectations that had been placed on him when he arrived in Manchester. Foster believes that if the Brazilian had put forth more effort and demonstrated greater dedication to the cause, he could have gone on to have a more illustrious career.

And he couldn't care less about anything. He was just uninterested in everything else." Truth be told, he didn't give a damn about anything. He was like that, though, until you put him on the pitch," Foster continued.

If Manchester United's size did impact his potential, the former Brazil international's failure to progress after leaving the club could be explained in part by that factor.

Anderson returned to Brazil after a brief loan spell with Fiorentina, before concluding his professional career with a move to Turkey.
