Loanee Man United player is wanted by Nottingham Forest permanently.

If Nottingham Forest achieves promotion to the Premier League, they hope to convert James Garner's loan from Manchester United into a permanent transfer for the forward.

With three games in hand on sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers, Nottingham Forest are just three points out of a playoff spot in the Championship. The Reds have won the competition on two occasions and are two points ahead of them in the standings.

Garner has played a key role in Nottingham Forest's promotion campaign, contributing three goals and four assists in 31 games in the English second division this season.

Despite the fact that FootballTransfers reports that Garner is expected to return to Manchester United this summer, a successful promotion attempt could alter United's approach for the summer transfer window entirely.

In terms of transfermarkt valuation, Garner is worth somewhat less than £4 million. However, because of the length of his contract with United, which extends until 2024, the club has the option to give him a chance in the first team next season or loan him out to a Premier League club.

United are expected to be under new management for the upcoming season, and they are also preparing for a huge clear-out, which could open up a spot in the club for Garner that he otherwise would not have been able to obtain.

Garner has made seven appearances for the Manchester United senior team, making his senior United debut in the Europa League in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
