Despite the fact that he has been in command of the Netherlands since 2021 – his third stint in the role – he will step down following the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup in December.
Retiring from football after the winter tour to Qatar, the former Manchester United manager has announced that he is battling prostate cancer and will stand away to focus on his health.
Ronald Koeman, formerly of Barcelona and Everton, will take over as manager of the Netherlands at the end of the season, the country's football governing body has already said.
Between 2018 and 2020, Koeman was in command of the Dutch national team for around two years, compiling a victory rate of 55 percent in the process.
Later, he moved on to what turned out to be a largely unproductive stint with Barcelona, and he has been out of work since being fired towards the end of last season.
After the conclusion of the Netherlands' World Cup preparations in 2022, in which they will face Qatar, Ecuador, and Senegal in the group stage, he will begin preparations to take over the national team for a second time. His contract will begin after the conclusion of the national team's efforts in the tournament.
