Wayne Rooney named top four favourite after Tottenham leap Arsenal.

Wayne Rooney, a former Manchester United striker, has forecast how the top-four fight would pan out in the coming weeks.

In previous weeks, Arsenal had had a commanding fourth-place position, but after losing to Crystal Palace on Monday night, they have fallen to fifth.

The Gunners are still in control of their own destiny, since they are equal on points with Tottenham with a game in hand, but they have a number of difficult matchups ahead of them.

And the race between the two North London clubs is wide open, with Manchester United battling to make up ground in the standings below them.

Spurs are expected to win the fight for Champions League football, and Wayne Rooney believes they will be victorious in the last round.

Rooney believes that 'experience' will make all the difference for Tottenham as the season nears its conclusion. Spurs are currently in excellent form, having won 5-1 over Newcastle at the weekend.

During Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, he stated that he believes Arsenal or Tottenham will win the Premier League.

According to Manchester United's recent form, I do not believe they will be a serious contender.

"It's a battle between Tottenham and Arsenal, and I believe Tottenham has the advantage since they have more experience in their roster."

I think the inconsistency of the teams behind Manchester City and Liverpool is the reason why no one wants fourth place.

"I think they've set the standard; they're two wonderful clubs that put in incredible performances every week, and the teams below them, such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham, are a little more inconsistent, and it shows in their league position," says the analyst. "

Interestingly, both Tottenham and Arsenal still have games still to play before the season is up, and the May North London derby might be crucial in determining which of the two teams will compete in the Champions League next season.
