When Wayne Rooney talks about Manchester United, he is both right and wrong.

Wayne Rooney, a former Manchester United striker, commented at length about the club's managerial situation and a number of players, enraging a segment of the club's fanbase.

On Monday Night Football, several Manchester United fans may have punched their way through the television set while watching Wayne Rooney's performance.
Is Paul Pogba your favorite player in the world? The situation has reached the point where it is probably best for him to go on.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo your favorite football player? It is my opinion that they require more players that are younger and more hungry.
It was Rooney who emphasized that the team had "excellent young players." "Marcus will be better next year, and I believe that Sancho will be better next year as well, A lot of their guys are very talented young men. Jesse Lingard is a player that I believe should be in their lineup."

Lingard, who will be 30 in December, has been de-aged even more than Robert de Niro, who played the Irishman in The Irishman. Upon first glance at Lingard's Instagram page, one would assume that he is still in his early twenties rather than a 30-year-old father of a single child.
Rashford is no longer considered a young player because he is 25 years old. He has been a member of the first-team football squad for more than six seasons. Scott McTominay, 25, was mentioned by Rooney as having 'done well.' That came at the worst possible time for McTominay, who had just played his poorest game of the season against Leicester. He has performed admirably in previous seasons, but not this one.

There was some validity to Rooney's claim about Lingard scarcely playing. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used him inexplicably little, and by the time Ralf Rangnick was parachuted in, Lingard was well aware that his departure date of June 30 had been set in stone.

When Rooney named Maguire, the British theme continued: "I like Harry, and I know Harry personally." Unlike a lot of other players, he hasn't been in his greatest shape this season. When he goes to England, he appears to be a world-class centre-back," says the coach.

There isn't much to quibble about here. It was reported in February by this correspondent that Rooney had provided advice to Maguire in the aftermath of the Mykonos incident. Rooney and Maguire are both handled by the same agency. However, it is unfashionable to laud or defend the scapegoated skipper Maguire, who was immaculate for England at the European Championship and produced one of his best United performances over the weekend.

In regards to the managerial situation, Rooney provided the following insight: "I believe Pochettino has done it in the Premier League, he knows the Premier League." His time at Tottenham and Southampton both saw a lot of young players develop under his guidance.

Pochettino has long wanted to manage United

Pochettino aspired to lead United

"If I had to choose between [Pochettino and Erik ten Hag], that's who I'd go with. I'd give Pochettino the benefit of the doubt and give him time. Managers now require time to enter the club and implement their plans for the team. I believe that if you give him enough time, he will succeed. He is, in my opinion, an excellent manager."

Many United supporters were shocked and disappointed to learn this news. According to this newspaper, the United dressing room was divided over the possibility of appointing Ten Hag as their manager earlier in the day.

According to reports from February, Pochettino was the most preferred choice among the players. Ten Hag has been described as 'underwhelming' by sources in the dressing room, and there have been rumors of potential implications if United exercise their release clause on the former Ajax coach.

To suggest that Pochettino, who has almost seven years' experience in the Premier League, has developed young players from whom England has reaped the rewards, and has charmed the nest of vipers at Paris Saint-Germain, is a more qualified candidate to manage United than Ten Hag is not outrageous in the least.

Ten Hag's accomplishments at Ajax are commendable, but they are not very noteworthy. The 2018-19 season seemed so far away that only three of the players who started against Tottenham in the heartbreaking second leg were available to play against Groningen on Saturday. Five players from the Premier League were included in the starting XI: Daley Blind, Davey Klaasen, Steven Berghuis, Dusan Tadic, and Sebastian Haller.

While Pochettino is working in a position he has not fully embraced, the Argentinean is learning new abilities as he manages serial winners after spending the previous five-and-a-half years overseeing serial losers at Tottenham. Even though Ten Hag is the more experienced coach, many believe he has greater potential than Pochettino, whose reputation has deteriorated in recent years. If Manchester United do not sign Ten Hag this year, City may do so the following year.

It is possible that Ten Hag is more at home in City's system than he is at United's, having already worked at a club with a solid structure and recruitment approach. Nevertheless, United stir the soul, and there is an element of purity about them that Ten Hag can appreciate.

Regardless of who owns Manchester United, the club will always be the city's favorite. You only have to ask Rooney, who stood up to City in 2010.
