Chelsea began to create some possibilities down the left-hand side after a few jittery moments in the first half, and Mason Mount took advantage of one of those opportunities in the fifteenth minute. Against expectations, Timo Werner knocked the ball into Mount's path and the English international scored first time past Thibaut Courtois to put Chelsea ahead.

This lowers the aggregate deficit to a single goal (3-2), but instills sufficient confidence in the Blues to cause an upset in Madrid. Karim Benzema's hat-trick in the first leg gave Los Blancos a commanding lead, but as has been demonstrated, their defense is vulnerable, even more so without suspended Eder Militao.
